A Brilliant Beginning
Jamie Collins and Keith Ressler
July 23, 2011
Jamie Collins and Keith Ressler spent nearly a year planning their wedding at the Westward Look Resort. Attention to detail emerged as a focus for the pair, who took time and care in creating a truly personalized celebration.
“Because the majority of our guests were traveling, providing a wonderful guest experience was a high priority,” recalls bride Jamie. Many of the couple’s wedding guests traveled more than 1,000 miles to attend the wedding in Tucson.
Jamie and Keith were united in marriage in a rooftop ceremony decorated with paper lanterns and bouquets of Asiatic lilies, orange roses, white hydrangea and blue tweedia. The vibrant color scheme of pumpkin and turquoise brought an exciting flair to the florals, decor and attire of the bridal party. Jamie designed a beautiful monogram that Keith painted on the aisle runner, and the hand-made ceremony programs were tied to each chair with a turquoise satin ribbon. Guests could glimpse the bride’s pumpkin satin slippers as the pair was pronounced husband and wife.
The summer festivities couldn't have happened on a better day. By some divine intervention, a cool breeze brought a lovely cloud cover to the foothills of the Catalinas, quite uncharacteristic for summer in Tucson. The relaxed and beautiful atmosphere made the celebration even more meaningful for Jamie and Keith.
Keith’s love of home brewing found its way into the celebration. Says Jamie, “To carry the theme further, he gave each groomsman two different bottles of beer brewed in celebration of the big day.” Custom labels in the wedding color scheme were a smart finishing touch.
Menus and escort cards were handmade and customized for each guest -- right down to the children’s coloring menus hand-drawn by the best man. A fabulous cake featured a cascade of sugar flowers. As a remembrance of their desert experience, each guest was given a potted succulent and a custom-labeled lip balm.
