It’s no wonder so many love songs have flying themes--when you meet “the one” doesn’t it feel like your feet have left the ground? Who can forget Frank Sinatra’s classic “Come Fly with Me” and oft-requested first-dance tune “Fly Me to the Moon”? Love and taking flight seem to go hand in hand!
Lucky for us, we know a place where you can take your wedding to new heights and have some fun with the theme that ‘your love is taking me higher’. Pima Air and Space Museum is one of the largest aviation museums in the world, and it’s right here in our city. In addition to housing a collection of more than 300 air and spacecraft and aviation artifacts, this venue is frankly just a cool place to get married.
Couples with an aviation background will immediately be drawn to the collection and the potential to show off some of the most unique aircraft from around the world. Anyone with a penchant for thinking outside the box will bring in an event coordinator and design a wedding in these vast, dramatic spaces that will be talked about for years. “Potential” doesn’t even begin to cover it!
We love the idea of exchanging vows in an aircraft hangar on the 80-acre site and then moving outside to a luxury tent where you can serve cocktails and dinner. Pima Air has special event lighting that can give the aircraft backdrop a beautiful color wash. Large wedding or small soiree, this is a venue just waiting to inspire you.
Although the museum has more than 20,000 square feet of event space, there are so many ways to include the grounds, displays and hangars to meet your own vision. In the World War II Hangar, the “Sentimental Journey” plane is a popular backdrop for ceremonies, as are the helicopters and vintage memorabilia. While the wedding party takes post-ceremony photographs, let a docent lead your guests on a personalized tour.
In addition to gourmet catering services, docents are always included as part of an event at the Pima Air and Space Museum. Couples are always welcome to bring in an event coordinator, photographer, musicians, and floral designers of their choosing as they create their own personalized celebration.
