Fun and Frivolity
Taking the time to enjoy family and friends, Kristina Callan and Levi Quesada created a weekend filled with fun and entertainment for 200 guests who came to celebrate their May wedding in Tucson.
The celebration began with a Friday night rehearsal at St. Cyril Church, followed by an upscale variation on “dinner and a show.” The pair rented out the entire Gaslight Theatre and treated their guests to a fun dinner show, complete with traditional theatre fare.
Saturday’s wedding was followed with a spectacular celebration at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. Guests were greeted by uniformed butlers bearing trays of pomegranate mojitos, the couple’s signature cocktail. When the doors opened to the ballroom, a 17-piece band welcomed everyone to a party they wouldn’t soon forget.
“The feel we were going for was intimacy, and I think we definitely achieved that,” remarks the bride, who arranged for equal parts elegance and playfulness at the event.
Placecards were individual votive candles wrapped in vellum, while table numbers were framed black and white photographs of the bride or groom at corresponding ages. Centerpieces featured all-white arrangements of tulips, hydrangea, and stocks, anchored by river rocks. A lounge feel was incorporated throughout the room as well. Explains Kristina, “On every other table, we had hydrangea floating in water with lit up lamp shades.”
Following a gourmet meal presented by the catering team at Loews, guests enjoyed a slide show of the couple’s courtship as well as a retro favorite: a photo booth. As they slipped behind the curtain, family and friends made memories that would serve as mini favors as well as entries into the couple’s guest book.
A touch of whimsy brought smiles to guests’ faces when the wedding cake was served. A pair of PEZ candy dispensers topped the beautiful cake, in a surprise nod to Levi’s PEZ collection.
The fun continued late into the evening, including a choreographed father-daughter dance and a traditional Lebanese dabke, which involved guests holding hands and dancing around the room.
“Our wedding weekend could not have been more perfect,” recalled Kristina.
