Floral Fantasy
It was important to Christina Leu and Michael Boyless that their wedding be as memorable and meaningful for their guests as it was for them, so they planned several events to bring everyone together in the spirit of love and fun.
The kick off event was a BBQ social at Udall Park on Friday, to which everyone was invited. Being able to get to know one another prior to the wedding itself was a lot of fun for the guests and it provided a wonderful opportunity for the bride and groom to thank people for sharing in their special event. A rehearsal dinner followed later that day.
On Saturday, the pair took full advantage of the lovely Tucson scenery in staging their wedding ceremony. La Mariposa offered breathtaking views of the Santa Catalina foothills, a stunning spring sunset and a tranquil pond. The groom caught his breath upon seeing his bride enter the mesquite grove, which had been adorned with delicate pink and blue arrangements. The ceremony itself featured readings by both mothers, an offering of peace, and heartfelt vows. As the couple was proclaimed husband and wife, the University of Arizona Steel Drum Band performed the Bob Marley classic, “Is This Love.”
The reception offered an enchanting feast for the senses with stunning floral displays, a delicious meal and the sweet smell of blooms throughout. Light pink satin linens and chairs with white bows were offset by bright floral displays of pink roses, blue delphinium, pink peonies and tuberoses. Tearfully sweet and humorous toasts were offered to the couple by many guests, followed by the bride and groom’s first dance, to Elton John’s “Your Song.”
Christina’s bouquet toss offered a unique alternative to tradition. She had five mini-bouquets prepared, each bearing a good wish for the lucky recipient. All women in attendance were invited to share in the sentiment of good fortune as she tossed the bouquets into the air.
Dancing and merriment continued until late in the evening, but the celebration didn’t end there. Guests were invited to share in a poolside day-after Sunday brunch at the Hilton Tucson East, and a farewell dinner at the home of the bride’s parents.
