Spring's Natural Beauty
With floral arrangements in butter yellow, misty blue and soft pink, the early April nuptials of Cassie Bowden and Thomas Wilhelmsen were marked with the freshness of spring and the abundance that only a new marriage can inspire.
The wedding featured a heartwarming ceremony in La Mariposa’s popular and romantic mesquite grove. The snow-capped Catalina Mountains shone through the intermittent showers and sun, not unlike the traditional marriage vows depicting the enduring nature of love: sickness and health, richer and poorer. The mother of the bride, Ann Bowden’s expertise in the bridal industry lent a tremendous attention to detail in the wedding celebration.
The gazebo, adorned with crystals, candles and a cornucopia of flowers, provided shelter from the elements as well as an ideal setting for the pair to exchange vows surrounded by family and friends. Cassie and Thomas designed their attire to fit the wedding color scheme. The men were dressed in casual chic white linen shirts, with the groom in a linen suit by Calvin Klein. The bride wore a ivory satin gown with shimmering beadwork. Bridesmaids wore a selection of ethereal blue gowns with chocolate brown accents.
In the Starlight Room, guests were greeted by an amazing floral fragrance, courtesy of stunning stargazer lilies complemented by orchids, tulips and curly willow. Ivory satin table linens continued the simple elegant motif of the day.
Cassie and Thomas’ wedding meal included passed appetizers, an extensive dinner buffet and a beautiful, yet whimsical cake that featured asymetrical layers, white polka dots and fresh garden roses and lilies. Each table included a custom wild flower seed mixture in netted bags as favors.
In a nod to tradition, the pair included photographs of their families over four generations on a special table at the reception. They showed their love of a good time by setting up a “candy buffet” to feed the sweet tooth in the crowd. The wax lips were a tremendous hit among young and old, as was the evening of dancing, led by the newlyweds.
