Making Memories
“I can honestly say that our wedding was one of the best weddings I have ever
attended,” recalls bride Anabell Castro, “lucky for us, it was our wedding!”
Anabell and fiancé Temujin Thompson chose the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa as the site of their spring wedding, which included myriad activities for their guests and entertainment that people are still talking about.
The golf-loving couple was immediately drawn to the mountain backdrop, beautiful golf courses, and spa at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa. The festivities began with a golf scramble for the men and spa treatments for the women on the day before the wedding. The rehearsal dinner was held at the resort restaurant, Los Dos Silos.
“My vision of our wedding changed and evolved as the months of planning progressed,” says Anabell. “In the end, I stopped worrying about people’s expectations and concentrated on the small details that would make the wedding memorable and special for both of us.”
In lieu of wedding favors, the pair chose to make a donation to the American Cancer Society, to support research into an illness that touched their families. Rather than champagne, the pair chose to toast their new marriage with a sangria drink. Even their dog got in on the action, by serving as ring bearer during the ceremony.
It was the reception, however, that made the greatest impression.
“We handed out slippers at the reception so that the ladies to could take off their heels,” explains the bride. Absolute comfort was necessary, as the wedding party danced well into the night to a band that provided show stopping entertainment. In addition to changing into multiple outfits, the band had dancers, men on stilts, masks, sombreros and a variety of party favors for guests to enjoy, creating an entertainment venue of the reception.
“More than anything,” recalls Anabell, “people had a wonderful time. It is and will forever be one of the most memorable days of our lives.”
