music of the night
Our number one priority when
it came to making decisions
about the wedding was our hope
to create an amazingly fun and
memorable celebration,” recalls
Jenni Schultz, who wed ryan Bartos this April at Loews Ventana
Canyon.
Nearly two hundred guests came to Arizona to share in
the festivities, which the couple had designed to be a personal
reflection of their values as well as just a fabulous time for all.
The ceremony was celebrated in the mesquite grove on the
upper terrace at the resort, where the couple shared vows based
on their shared values and vision of a happy marriage.
Music was important to the couple in planning their wedding
and reception. Says Jenni, “Honoring the tradition and
romance of a wedding was important to us, especially during
the ceremony. On the other hand, we wanted the ceremony to
be personal, so we infused things that we felt were a reflection
of specifically us. We chose old classics like “unforgettable” and
“It Had to Be You” for the prelude and recessional, and “Over
the rainbow” for the flower girl/ring bearer walk; yet opted for
more traditional standards like “Canon in D” and “Arioso” for
the processional.”
A cocktail hour on the croquet court featured a Flamenco
band, followed by dinner and dancing in the resort’s grand
Ballroom. The romantic setting included a profusion of floral
arrangements and glowing candles.
To encourage conversation, a lounge area was created on one
end of the room, featuring retro-style furnishings and a martini
bar with an ice luge. In a nod to the groom’s Italian heritage, a
dessert station overflowing with bite-sized cassata cakes, cannoli
and Italian cookies accompanied the wedding cake.
“Both of us felt so much gratitude for being able to share
this experience with so many of our family and friends, so we
wanted to show them a great time,” recalls the bride.
