a grande affair
He was my cream, and I was his coffee— And when you poured us together, it was something.

When Charlene Straub and
Sean Bradley wed this
spring, they chose to celebrate
America’s favorite
beverage, that tall, dark and
handsome national obsession: coffee. Like coffee and cream,
it was a match made in heaven.
“My coordinator and i came up with a coffee theme for
the reception since i work as a Barista part-time,” recalls
bride Charlene. “Sean and i loved this theme and everything
seemed to just fall into place.”
Out-of-town guests had a sneak peek at the coffee theme,
when they checked in to their hotel rooms. each received a
gift bag filled with goodies, such as Starbucks bottled frappuccino,
Café Mocha granola bars, and tucson memorabilia.
in a nod to the couple’s honeymoon destination, they also
included Fiji bottled water.
Charlene and Sean exchanged vows at the lovely La paloma
Country Club, followed by a dinner reception elegantly
decorated in hues of sky blue and chocolate brown. tables,
bearing names such as “Mocha,” “espresso,” and “Cream and
Sugar,” were bedecked with sky blue place cards nestled in a
mound of fragrant coffee beans.
Cocktail tables elsewhere in the room continued the
theme, as they were set with sets of four square candleholders
tied with blue and brown ribbon. in each set, two were
filled with sky blue mints, one contained a glowing candle,
and the fourth offered delicious dark chocolate-covered
espresso beans.
In a twist on a “signature cocktail,” guests were treated
to an after-dinner iced coffee beverage created especially for
the reception. imagine iced coffee topped with a white cotton
candy cloud, embellished with a sky blue straw.
