live, love, laugh
Terrie Sharman and Luke Commare met
and fell in love while working at KVOA
in Tucson. Although their families and
friends live throughout the country, the
couple sought to bring everyone together for
a wedding weekend reflective of the things that make their
lives together so special.
The weekend kicked off with the rehearsal dinner, which
was held at Terrie and Luke’s favorite restaurant, On the
Border—a venue indicative of their easygoing lifestyle.
The wedding took place the next day, and as guests were
arriving they were treated to a video montage of the couple’s
lives. Terrie’s dad walked her down the aisle, but both
parents “gave her away.” Luke walked his parents down the
aisle, and then joined the pastor. This was reflective of their
strong family ties, and interest in including family in the
ceremonial traditions.
The couple’s “mantra,” which appeared as the heading
on the ceremony program, set the tone for the weekend:
“Live, Love, Laugh.”
Terrie wore a sophisticated strapless gown while her
bridal party wore Palm Beach coral halter dresses; Luke wore
a handsome ivory tux, and his groomsmen wore ivory tuxes
with Palm Beach coral accessories.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds joined their attendants
on the shuttle bus to the Hotel El Conquistador for
the reception. Stocked with champagne and adorned with
“just married” signs, the shuttle bus was a great way to demonstrate
their personal style—no formal limo for this couple!
The cocktail hour featured an assortment of beverages
and appetizers, including the couple’s favorite chilled
shrimp. In keeping with Terrie and Luke’s love of food and
drink, the meal featured food stations, such as make-yourown
fajitas, salad, pasta, and a beef carving station. The
menu noted that in lieu of guest favors, Terrie and Luke had
made a donation to the Tucson Humane Society in recognition
of their love of animals.
The DJ entertained the crowd with tunes hand-picked by
Terrie and Luke. Even the usual garter toss had a personal
touch, as Luke arrived to the Rocky theme song, complete
with robe and boxing gloves, to somehow get that garter
off— sharing Luke’s playful side with all.
The DJ had Terrie and Luke complete information for
the “Love Story” he told at the reception, which gave guests
insight as to who these people are, where they came from,
how they met, and eventually fell in love.
The wedding ended at midnight, although the next
morning offered a poolside farewell brunch with bagels,
juice, and coffee—and the opportunity to visit with Terrie
and Luke, as well as guests leaving the wedding weekend for
their home states.
