Swamped with Pride

Despite their distance from the Sunshine State, University of Florida alumni Amy Lauranzon and Scott Gulas brought pride, passion and enthusiasm for "all things Gator" to their fall wedding.
"We are both die-hard Gator fans, so it only made sense to make our wedding colors orange and blue," recalls Amy, "No other two colors have meant more to us!" After exchanging vows before their good friend, reverend Blake Hutson, the excited pair celebrated life and love at Reflections at the Buttes.
The spirited color scheme was featured in the vivid blue of the bridesmaid gowns and groomsmen's vests, as well as in the orange gerbera daisies, dahlias and lilies in the attendants' bouquets. Amy carried a stunning bouquet of soft peach and pale blue flowers, while Scott's boutonniere was a miniature calla lily.
Proving that you can take the couple out of Florida but not Florida out of the couple, Amy and Scott entered their reception to the Gator fight song. Later in the evening, fellow alumni joined the pair on the dance floor, to sing a rousing version of the traditional UF theme song, "We are the Boys."
A cocktail hour featured an oversized chalkboard bearing libations from the bride and groom's playbooks. Her favorite cocktails included a blue vodka sprite and white zinfandel, while cabernet and margaritas made his list.
The University of Florida pride extended to the creation of the couple's cakes. "The most important aspect of [our] cakes was the groom's cake. It had to be a Gator-themed cake," explains Amy. The pair chose a cake in the shape of a football jersey with their last name and the number one on the back. The traditional wedding cake featured a creative topper with the bride riding on the groom's back holding a football jersey.
At evening's end, the newlyweds left the reception in the groom's car. Of course, clanging behind the vehicle were bright orange and blue cans.
