| The Party of a Lifetime
A feast for the senses, Andrea Espinoza and Joey Aguirre's wedding was a collection of sights, sounds and tastes that reflected the couple's love of all musical styles and great food. Together with their families, they created a three-part celebration for 350 guests, beginning with a traditional wedding ceremony at Corpus Christi Church.
"Having the people we love there was the most important thing to us, and honoring our Catholic faith and traditions of our heritage also played an important part," recalls the bride.
After the couple exchanged vows, they enjoyed a wedding feast at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort. Each guest was greeted with a choice of two signature cocktails upon arriving at the red-themed ballroom. Strolling mariachis provided entertainment, while an elaborate selection of hors d'oeuvres was served. "I love to cook and we both love to eat, so our menu from start to finish was something we and our families really cared about," Andrea explains.
Red "freedom" roses, silver candelabra, and hundreds of glowing candles set the tone for romance, while the photobooth and Phoenix band The Groove Merchants set the stage for fun. Each place setting featured a mini champagne bottle with a personalized label. Two wedding cakes created a sweet ending to the formal reception. The traditional six-tier wedding cake was fabulous, but the showstopper was the wheel-shaped groom's cake, crafted in a nod to Joey's family business.
The fun-filled reception was a prelude to the excitement waiting next door at 11 pm, where "Club AJ" had been created to entertain guests into the wee hours of the morning. Lounge furnishings, casual food stations (including a french fry bar!) and a club DJ set the mood. "We love going to clubs, and so we wanted to create the atmosphere, complete with bouncers at the door, to enjoy ourselves in a relaxed way," said Andrea, who changed into a fun red dress for the party.
