| The Game of Love
Love and laughter go hand in hand. Loni Carrillo and Ben Girdler celebrated their wedding day with equal parts of these dual treasures at Reflections at the Buttes.
Their fun-loving spirit encouraged family and friends to get involved in the merriment from beginning to end. Bridesmaids wore flirty red gowns with a tulle peekaboo hem. While the bride's gown was traditional white with a cathedral train, she showed her sassy side by adding spectacular platform shoes, which also helped her look taller next to her 6'4" groom. The groom himself sported snazzy spectactor shoes.
The bridal party got into the celebratory spirit as they were introduced with their "stats" by an sports announcer. The friends then unrolled a black banner emblazoned with the couple's names and wedding date. After bursting through the banner and high-fiving the guests, the wedding party gathered in the center of the dance floor for a team huddle, and a chant to "eat."
The wedding feast was followed by toasts by the bride and groom. Since the pair attended 13 of their friends' weddings before their own nuptials, each of those couples was recognized and applauded. Friends and relatives took their turn at the microphone, sharing their hopes for the pair's happy future.
After Loni's father gave his toast, he welcomed her to the dance floor for a father-daughter dance that surprised everyone. While the song began with the tender "Butterfly Kisses," they had the DJ scratch in "Everybody Dance Now" about a minute into the song. Their dynamic choreography brought about great laughter, which exploded when the DJ brought back "Butterfly Kisses" at the end of the number.
When the party concluded, Ben and Loni took their new marriage for a spin by donning bride and groom cycling suits and riding their bikes all the way to the Hilton El Conquistador.
