| Weekend in Tubac
Kathryn Cross and Makko DiFilippo hosted a destination wedding celebration that spanned an entire weekend at the Tubac Golf Resort.
"The guests all stayed in hacienda-style casitas at the resort, where the wedding chapel, the reception hall and all wedding events were within a few seconds walk," explains bride Kathryn. "It was very important to us that our guests, most of whom stayed Friday through Sunday, enjoy the entire wedding weekend."
Welcome packages for their guests included essentials such as snacks and beverages. The pair also included packages of chili powder from a local chili factory. "Attached was a spicy chili recipe," explains Kathryn, "so all the guests could take a piece of Arizona home after the wedding."
The festivities began with a rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican cantina, followed by a tequila tasting at "The Stables," the resort's bar and restaurant. The weekend also included a visit to Elgin Wineries, golfing for the guys and a spa day for the women. By arranging a weekend-long event with a variety of excursions, the newlyweds and their families were able to savor the chance to relax and unwind together.
The wedding and reception were decorated with burnt orange ranunculus and dark blue delphiniums, designed to coordinate with the resort's natural decor. Centerpieces were hand made from mesquite blocks cut from the local mesquite mill. The couple chose table names that reflected places of significance during their courtship. The head table, for example, was named "Hacienda del Sol," after the hotel where Makko proposed to Kathryn.
In addition to the wedding and reception, the couple enjoyed a post-wedding brunch, hosted by the bride's family in the historic Otero Suite. "The weekend was perfect and unforgettable," reflects the bride.
