Happily Ever After

"The night was filled with lots of dancing, laughter, tears, but most of all love," recalls Cynthia Sandoval of her November wedding.

When Cynthia and her groom-to-be Merwyn Pereira began making their plans, they focused on creating an event that was different than any wedding they had ever attended. "A major part of our wedding was combining both his Indian traditions as well as my Mexican traditions to pay respect to our cultures," explains the bride.

The rehearsal dinner featured many traditional Indian wedding customs. She wore a red, green and gold Indian sari and he wore an ivory and gold sherwani. On their wedding day, Cynthia and Merwyn shared crystal elephants with their guests, "which, in India symbolize good luck, fortune, and protection."
"During the [wedding] ceremony, we included the following Mexican traditions: blessing of the bible and rosary, Exchange of the Arras, Lasso and offering to the Virgin Mary," explains Cynthia.

A rooftop cocktail hour underneath a bright blue evening sky kicked off the reception celebration. Dinner was served in a ballroom lavishly decorated with a primarily gold color scheme, with touches of ivory and blue.

Explains Cynthia, "We created a gold/ivory monogram that we used on our wedding escort CDs, welcome boxes, champagne candy bottles, and wedding programs." Gold and ivory was included in the decor in the form of stately gold candelabra, white floral displays, hanging crystals and glowing votives for a dramatically romantic atmosphere. Following dinner, music and dancing brought out the party mood.

The pair had two wedding dances: one as a couple, and one that included the entire wedding party. In keeping with the multicultural aspect of the celebration, the DJ included American, Mexican and Hindi music for the entertainment of all.
Recalls the bride, "All of our vendors were incredible, and our vision was brought to life due to their hard work and dedication. Our wedding was the best day of my life."
