| Falling in Love
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.—George Eliot
The long-distance courtship of Stephanie Steinbronn and Aaron Deir culminated in an autumn wedding at the Oasis at Wild Horse Ranch last October. The festivities were as much a celebration of autumn as an acknowledgement of the many places their relationship has taken them.
The bride and her family worked together to assemble many of the personal touches for the wedding, including save-the-date cards with a leaf background, embossed with—what else?-- “we have fallen in love.” Using the fall theme inspired color choices such as brown, gold, copper and orange throughout the wedding and reception décor.
Rather than toss rose petals along the aisle, the couple chose autumn leaves. In a nod to the warm weather in Tucson, guests were greeted at the ceremony with chilled water bottles personalized with an engagement photo. Decorations featured flagstone bases, river rocks and floating candles for a natural effect, while the floral arrangements included coffee berry and twigs along with fall blooms. Boutonnieres and bouquets were accented with copper wire.
The bride, dressed in sophisticated champagne and taupe, wore earrings she made herself, as well as a camouflage-patterned garter in honor of her new husband’s career in the Army.
In light of the fact that the pair traveled extensively during their relationship, reception tables were named after airports they visited along the way. Place cards were inventive and fresh: the bride designed them to look like airline tickets inscribed with the name of the “airport” at which the guest was seated. Favors included traditional Jordan almond candies as well as a CD of songs specially chosen by Aaron and Stephanie.
