Ringing in the
New Year
On the most celebratory day of the year—New Year’s Eve—Melissa Eheart and Scott Cummins invited family and friends to join for an unforgettable evening of food, dancing and music. It was the end of the year, but the beginning of a new life for Melissa and Scott.
Guests at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa received personalized gift baskets cleverly packaged in top hats, hinting at the elegant evening to come.
The wedding festivities opened with a New York-style piano bar and cocktail party featuring a lounge setting. Pure white furnishings included sofas, cocktail tables with white linens and glowing candles, while clear lights illuminated the scene. Recalls the bride, “Our table holding the liquor had limes cut in half to support the glass. It was gorgeous and a pop of color.” The bar featured four signature cocktails, each with a special meaning to the couple.
After sharing some time with their guests, the bride and groom left briefly to prepare for the ceremony. Family and friends were led into a luxe white ballroom while “Going to the Chapel of Love” was played in the background.
“All of our loved ones gathered around white lounge couches and white covered bistro tables surrounding a white dance floor on which Scott and I said our vows,” explains Melissa. The personalized service included the groom promising to be a Denver Broncos fan for life. “It was a nice touch,” smiles the bride, “most of our guests were in favor of that.”
Those who could not attend were able to view the ceremony via a webcast arranged by the DJ.
Once the pair was pronounced husband and wife, a wedding feast was launched. Culinary stations featured artful presentations of comfort foods including mashed potatoes in martini glasses, shots of tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich wedges, risotto, pasta, and sliders. A bar fashioned of ice was the focal point of a second patio, while dancing went on throughout the evening.
Sparklers added to the celebration of the announcement of the New Year and the conclusion of the festivities. The evening culminated with the guests of honor presenting ice cold milk and Oreo cookies to their guests.
