| A Garden of Splendor
Since she was a child, Elizabeth had always imagined she’d get married in the church where she grew up. As is frequently the case in the course of a lifetime, Elizabeth grew up and moved away to attend college-- in this case Eugene, Oregon.
Keeping true to her roots, however, she returned to her native Tucson upon graduation. There she met David Anderson, who had also attended the University of Oregon. The two alumni became engaged in December, 2007.
For their reception location, the couple sought a unique, historic location near the bride’s downtown church. The Stillwell House offered the couple’s out-of-town guests a glimpse of Tucson’s beauty, cultural influences, and Elizabeth and David’s interests.
Guests were welcomed at the Stillwell House by the musicians, margaritas, and great guacamole. There they could mingle in the main house until the couple was announced and descended the center staircase.
Hundreds of twinkling patio lights and candles surrounding sprays of pink and green flowers gave a magical feel to the patio. Pink golf balls anchored the vases to pay homage to David’s love of golf, and a small PING golf bag with the couple’s monogram served to hold gift cards. While the flowers, tables, favors and wedding cake carried out the pink and green color scheme, the groom’s cake was a “golf ball” bearing the U of O duck logo. A slideshow was presented during dinner that showcased Elizabeth and David’s lives leading to their wedding.
Following the traditional toasts and dances, the party moved to the Cantina, where the guests sang and danced the night away. The bride’s sorority sisters serenaded the groom with special “Kappa” songs while guests enjoyed a gourmet candy buffet. The montage of tall vases featuring the couple’s monogram offered delicious treats in pink and green.
When the evening came to a close, the newlyweds’ guests were transported in safety and comfort back to the Westin La Paloma by luxury buses reserved for the event.
