Beginning to end, the wedding of Kelly Cobos and Jeremy Butcher
was an individualized expression of
the couple’s personalities and their
family bonds.
Recalls the bride, “The details that made our wedding so
special and unique to us is that it was not your traditional wed-
ding at all.”
When the groom, a self-described Illinois country boy, and
his groomsmen joined the ceremony to the musical theme
from the western “The good, the Bad and the Ugly.” The best
man was the groom’s father, with whom he has a very special
relationship.
The bride’s mother walked her down the aisle to the untraditional but very touching “what a wonderful world,” which is
the mother of the bride’s favorite song.
Music also played a role in honoring loved ones who had
passed on. A remembrance candle was lit by the couple while
the groom’s father, two brothers and sister-in-law sang “On Eagles’ Wings” during the ceremony.
The bride’s childhood pastor performed the ceremony in Spanish and english. Says Kelly, “Hearing our dedication to
each other in both languages made this day that much more
special to us both.”
The guests enjoyed a mariachi performance during the cock-
tail hour, followed by dinner on the outdoor flagstone patio,
where the DJ played music to complement the desert scenery.
The bride wanted the wedding to have a personal touch in
every aspect possible.
The bride and groom made their own
wedding invitations, favors, centerpieces, and bridesmaids’ bouquets. The groom’s mother made the ring bearer pillow and the
flower girl basket using a basket that belonged to the groom’s
deceased grandmother. favors included chocolates made by
both mothers and CDs of the couple’s favorite songs compiled
by the groom’s brothers.
