Introduced during a Semester at Sea (SAS),
Kelly Eggen and Nathan Hill decided to
highlight their many travels that eventually led
them to the altar at the Westin La Paloma Resort
& Spa.
The travel and sea theme carried throughout the couple’s
October wedding weekend, starting with a kick-off party
set in Greece, where their relationship began The event was
decorated with statues and a coliseum for a buffet table
The couple’s love story was shared with guests in specially
designed passport style invitations.
Kelly and Nathan’s wedding day was a celebration in living
color—primarily their favorite colors of pink and orange
The bride carried a bouquet of light pink garden roses, while
the church pews were decorated with handmade silk bows
The long aisle was strewn with pink and orange rose petals,
while the bride’s ten attendants wore varying shades of pink
and tangerine.
As they left the church, the couple was showered with
pink and orange rose petals in a romantic display Guests
received the rose petals in an inventive cone bearing the
couple’s monograms, wedding date and the suggestion
“shower them with love and petals.”
Upon arriving at the reception, each guest was given a
handmade escort card in the shape of a luggage tag Inside
was a gold card that included the table names that corresponded
to cities and countries the couple had visited.
The reception featured whimsical floral displays of pink
hydrangeas, roses, tulips and garden roses The tangerine
and pink color scheme carried through from the satin chair
covers to the shimmer of the table linens A signature cocktail,
the “Semester at Sea Breeze” was served throughout the
evening.
Says the bride, “A favorite accent piece was a hand calligraphy
monogram of our initials in a pink gobo light that
lit the dance floor.”
The guests were wowed by a special candy bar set up in
the foyer just outside the ballroom There, a spectacular
display of glass jars filled to the brim with favorite candies
was accompanied by a sign that read “How sweet of you to
join us on our wedding day.”
