| september wedding
The September wedding of Angela
Thomas and Marques Flores was an
event rich in tradition, accented by
the flavors of one of Tucson’s pioneer
families.
Beginning with Catholic Mass at San Augustine
Cathedral in Tucson, the couple followed in the
footsteps of the groom’s ancestors who had taken
part in the building of the church. The bride and
groom chose to incorporate many Mexican cultural
elements as they celebrated their union.
The reception at Stillwell House was a brilliant
blend of modern and traditional elements, lovingly
executed by the groom’s sister, while featuring
Charro Café’s signature dishes prepared by the
mother of the groom.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception
in the garden courtyard under
the soft pink light of candles, trees
laden with romantic chandeliers
and chic furniture groupings featuring
custom-designed pillows. Family
photographs adorned the tables, placed
among thousands of glowing votives. A
champagne ice bar offered fresh fruit,
signature pink champagne cocktails
and margaritas.
Inside the main house and the courtyard,
the guests were treated to an exquisite
buffet meal among place settings
decorated with silver chargers, custom
taupe linens and floral arrangements
of pink peonies, hydrangeas and roses
placed in silver vases and candelabra.
Finishing touches to the décor
included monogrammed napkins and
the head table draped with a thirdgeneration
wedding cloth. In addition
to a spectacular cake, dessert included
a pink and white candy display and a
color-coordinated gelato bar.
From the couple’s heartfelt toasts on the staircase
to the dancing in the cantina, this celebration
was one that will live in the memory of family and
friends for years to come.
