When we see an engagement session that has it all- gorgeous pictures, a couple that just “fits” together, a cutie patootie pup, and honestly, the most perfect ensembles you could imagine, we jump on the chance to share the session on our blog. Liz and Alex’s love story will surely inspire you…and maybe even tempt you to go shopping for your ultimate engagement session outfits!

How did you meet? Despite living only a few blocks apart from each other in Santa Monica, CA in 2010, we never met until we both moved back to Tucson. We initially met in the spring of 2012, however it wouldn’t be until a year later that a mutual friend set us up on a date. It truly was love at first date, and the rest, you could say, is history!

This is Riley. Riley was, as Liz says, “the life of the engagement shoot”. Riley may or may not attend the wedding, despite her extreme cuteness.

What’s your ideal “date night”? We love to cook together, so an ideal date night would include whipping up something exciting in the kitchen. Lately, we’ve enjoyed trying our hand at various ethnic dishes, particularly Indian and Thai cuisine. After dinner, we’d probably indulge in one of our guilty pleasures- Dateline murder mysteries. We are always getting way too into the episodes, playing detective and what not.

The Proposal: Alex and Liz have slightly different memories about the proposal but the gist of it is that they were planning to go on an anniversary trip to Coronado Island, which Liz suspected would include a proposal, but Alex caught Liz off- guard by proposing to her the night before. Liz’s perspective puts all the pieces together: I had planned out all these “photo-op” outfits in case the “big moment” were to occur during any point of our trip, and ended up being proposed to with no makeup and a worn-out dress. Looking back, I am appreciative for the way it happened: our love is so organic and real, I’m glad our special night reflected who we truly are as a couple instead of a staged moment.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Liz: Alex is a true gentlemen and romantic. He’s always made me feel like the most loved and special person in the world. He’s my partner in absolutely every facet of life, and I couldn’t be more excited for our future.

Alex: Liz is an incredibly passionate and energetic person and really balances me out well. She’s beautiful, smart, talented and caring and is always there for others before herself. It doesn’t hurt that she enjoys cleaning up after me! I’m truly a lucky guy.

How did you choose She.We Studio for your photos? We met Shelley through our wedding planner, Louise Thomas, and I instantly fell in love with her enthusiasm and passion for what she does. It has been wonderful to work through the creative process together with Shelley, and the pictures came out absolutely perfect.
