Kelly and Michael’s Tucson wedding at Hacienda del Sol was a blend of sophistication and authenticity. This pair of Tucson natives wanted to showcase the natural beauty of Tucson while creating a chic celebration unique to them; they chose black, white, slate and green as their colors which worked perfectly at the colorful and charming venue.

I love it when photographers capture a moment of sheer happiness like this one:

Each setting featured a monogrammed cookie made by Kelly’s mother and a family friend

Because I am a mini-wanna-be-foodie, I knew that this was a croquembouche (a French pastry which translates to “crunch in the mouth”). The pastries are profiteroles that are bound by caramel. Yum. Seeing a picture of one never ceases to make my mouth water!

Did you go on a honeymoon?

Michael and I went on a delayed Honeymoon in March. Michael is in Law School, so Spring Break was the perfect time for us. We went to Nevis, which is a small island in the Caribbean. We choose Nevis because we wanted to go somewhere we had never been, was a place where we could relax/spend time together and somewhere that wasn’t populated with a bunch of other Honeymooners. Needless to say our Honeymoon was absolutely romantic, lovely and everything was were looking for and more! Michael and I were able to totally relax and enjoy 8 days together in paradise. We certainly enjoyed one another and the simple luxuries of the Nevis. It was a trip of a lifetime!
Looking back, what was your favorite moment/detail from the wedding day?

Kelly: It is difficult for me to pick a favorite moment of our Wedding Day, because I have countless wonderful memories.  It was so great to see all our hard work become a reality.  Although, one of my favorite memories from our Wedding is definitely the anticipation and excitement leading up to the ceremony. I was certainly nervous but could not wait to profess my love for Michael in front of all our family and friends. Immediately after the ceremony and the moments that Michael and I shared alone in the bridal suite are among my favorite as well. I remember feeling so elated and proud to be Michael’s wife… it was truly cosmic.

Michael: My favorite detail from the wedding day was the rain.  It was beautiful all day for our photos and outdoor ceremony.  There was this really wonderful soft light because it was slightly cloudy.  Then, during cocktail hour, while were taking more photos around the property at Hacienda Del Sol, the rain clouds came in, and it sprinkled for about a minute.  We were outside and got rained on, but it was actually incredible.  They say it’s good luck, and it only lasted for a minute.  It was like it rained just for us on our wedding day to give us that good luck without soaking us or our guests or ruining any of the plans.  It also made for some really beautiful backgrounds for our photos as the clouds blew out while the sun was going down.

What advice would you give brides planning a wedding?
It was really important to Michael and I to plan our wedding together. Planning it together made so much sense to us. Although at times stressful, working on the wedding plans together was definitely more fun than stressful and paid off in the end. I can honestly say that our Wedding down to every detail was totally representative of us. I would advice Brides to work with vendors who they are not only comfortable with, but with vendors who love what they do. Also, do what suits you and your Wedding’s overall aesthetic. For example for our Wedding Cake we choose to have a Croqembouche (traditionally French Wedding cake) in place of the typically Wedding cake and to this day people are commenting on how wonderful it was! Lastly, hire someone to be a day of coordinator, the last thing you want to do on the day of your Wedding is worry about your timeline and moving people from ceremony to cocktail hour, etc. Having a day of coordinator ensured someone else made sure things were moving smoothly so we and our immediately family were able to enjoy our Wedding!
Kelly and Michael, thank you so much for sharing your day with us and CONGRATULATIONS!
