A Charming Venue

History is what makes people and places charming and interesting. We all have a story and The Stillwell House is no exception. This historical building has been given new life after enduring two fires and abandonment. Thank goodness someone saw it’s potential and gave it some love because it has been host to over 800 events since re-opening in 1990.

Recently, The Stillwell House hosted an open house to introduce the venue to potential brides and grooms. Here are some photos from the event.

Something Blue Rings True

As far as I am concerned, photography is fine art. Even as a child visiting museums, I felt the magnetic pull of the photography section of the building. At the time, it was hidden in the basement and was pretty empty.

Of course, things have changed in the photography world but my love of this art form has not…so when I see really cool, beautiful, striking photography, I feel pure happiness (and a bit of awe since my 6 year old takes better pictures than me).

That’s why today I am sharing Jon and Georgina Anderson with you- they are the Tucson based photography team of Something Blue Photography and they rock the rings! They actually do a great job all around but their images of rings are so cool! Let’s have a look see:

This is the photo that caught my eye and made me realize I HAD to see more (check out the entire wedding on Something Blue’s Blog):

I think it’s safe to say Something Blue Photography embraces color, likes to have fun, and knows how to work the romance!

Here is what they have to say about their work:

Rings and Photography are the only items you have to physically remember your wedding day. So we like to create Art pieces of the rings that reflect the couple’s personality. Inspiration comes from the couple’s sense of style during the day. The baseball photo is a prop that the groom had at the reception for guests to sign. The Samurai Sword was worn by the groom. Sometimes the inspiration is the simple color of the bouquet or the ambiance of a marriage license in beautiful lighting.

And since we were talking photography, they also wanted to pass on a few tips to those looking to hire a photographer.

Here is what they suggest you keep in mind:

When choosing your wedding photographer you must see and touch their work and albums. Are they recommended by other prominent vendors? Are their personalities compatible with yours? Does their style reflect your desires for a finished product?

Tunnel of Love

One thing that stands out to me in all engagement shoot images is the pure and clearly evident love. Couples are sweetly head over heels and plain ol’ cute! Michelle Burley of Michelle Burley Photography shared an engagement session with us that embraced the Tucson landscape and a unique tunnel…

As with many photo shoots, Michelle’s inspiration was accidental:

The Monday before our scheduled engagement shoot, my husband took me to McClintock’s Restaurant in the heart of Saguro Ranch community. As we drove through the tunnel, I knew this was the perfect location for Jamie and Mike.

The shoot took place in Saguaro Ranch, a beautiful Tucson development and great place for engagement shots! Here are some of Jamie and Mike’s images:

And finally, a Harley Davidson in an engagement shoot? Of course!!

Michelle says: A couple of hours before our session, I received a text message from Mike asking if they could bring the Harley. I responded by saying “As long as Jamie says it’s ok:).” Mike then told me it was Jamie’s idea!

Jamie and Mike are getting married October 10; congrats to the fun couple and thanks to Michelle Burley for sharing this fun shoot with us!

Sarah and Cullen’s great adventure

We just love it when we get to show off Tucson couples in living color and there’s nothing like video to do that. Lucky us and lucky you–we have a great wedding trailer to share!

I do! There’s something so magical about that moment when vows are exchanged and the bride and groom’s lives become instantly changed.

Okay, so the slogan doesn’t rhyme, but it rings just as true as anything Madison Avenue has to offer us: Have fun!

Aren’t we all just a tad bit tired of hearing about the sour economy? Here, to get you inspired for the most FUN day of your life, are some of our favorite recent real-wedding images.

The flowers need to be perfect, the catering should be divine, but by all means, have yourself some fun!

Photographer Chris Richards says, “(this is) the biggest celebration you’re ever likely to throw, with the most friends and family members together in one place. It’s so much more than just an exchange of vows; it’s a chapter in the story of your lives.”
