The Bearded Bride?
categories: Health and Beauty

If you couldn’t already guess, today’s topic is not glamorous in any way shape or form but it is a necessary conversation. Ladies, we need to talk hair removal. You are going to all kinds of places as the center of attention and you will be in so many pictures starting with your engagement session going all the way through to the honeymoon. You definitely do not want to be referred to as “the bride with the mustache”. You just don’t want that. Nor do you want to spend a ton of time taking care of this pesky reality, right?

Here are a few solutions that have been tested by us personally so you are getting the best kind of advice: girlfriend to girlfriend.

1. I admit I was nervous about Shobha Sugaring. The box and contents were appealing enough but the instructions made my head spin so I tucked it away and never touched it, until recently.

I self-manage my upper lip hair so I have experience with at- home waxing. It’s a bit messy and painful but I do it in the name of vanity. Surprisingly, my Shobha Sugaring experience, compared to my other waxing system, was actually quite nice! Once I broke into my kit, I realized it’s not that difficult and the results were great. The very best part? Since the product is 100% natural, clean up is as simple as rinsing with water. In 5 minutes flat, I became a convert!

2. Want something a bit more serious? The No!No! Hair removal tool might just be your answer. It’s designed for long term hair reduction so think of it as a middle ground between at home waxing/sugaring and a laser hair removal office. Our editor found it to be most suitable for the upper lip area and the handheld device is small enough to pack in your luggage so you can take it with you in case you have a “fuzzy” emergency on your honeymoon!

3. For a more permanent and hands- off approach, seek the experts at The Skin Place. They use the extremely gentle elos hair removal system (great for girls and guys) and a plethora of other services to get you in tip top wedding shape!

You can thank me for this advice when you see your wedding pictures and you are your gorgeous (hair free) self!

Wedding Inspiration: Honeysuckle
categories: Bridal Fashions, Cakes and Sweets, favor and gift ideas, Floral Inspiration, Health and Beauty, Meet Our People, Stuff We Love!, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

A color to uplift spirits and instill confidence? YAY!!!! Pantone,  the kings of color, chose Honeysuckle as their color of the year for 2011 fashion, decor, paper and trends. Brides, you may not want to be super trendy but there is a lot you can do with Honeysuckle, which we all know is a classic for weddings.

Take note pink lovers, make-up with a color like honeysuckle needs to be carefully considered. The wrong pink, too much pink, it can all be a mess. Luckily, Martina Neal from Artisan Salon has shared some beauty tips with us that will work with honeysuckle should you choose to use this pretty shade in your wedding.

As glamour blossoms on the aisle, makeup colors are inspired by shades and elements found in nature. Light luminous greens with a hint of mint, pale lemon and soft violets for eye colors as well as washes of muted taupes are paired with the a pop of color on the lips are creating a stunning “new natural” beauty for the 2011 season.

I kind of like how the colors Martina suggest all come together:

This glam expert also tell us “Lashes are still here to stay and are a must for every bride to bring out their eyes. If you have never worn them, I suggest you try them at your rehearsal to see what a difference they make and to make sure you feel absolutely comfortable with them. Sculpted, defined eyebrows frame the eyes and finish the look. It’s a “WOW” moment!”

Brides, what can we take from today’s inspiration? You will be seeing lots of pink, you can pair the honeysuckle hue with brighter colors for drama or soft greens for a more natural look and most importantly, watch the makeup!!!  You absolutely need a professional make up artist on your wedding day and Martina is your gal. We will be featuring Martina in her very own “Tucson B&G Friend Spotlight” soon- check back for more advice from her!
