Real Tucson Wedding: Emily and Mario
categories: fabulous reception sites, Real Weddings

Emily and Mario’s wedding was everything they dreamed it would be- romantic, family oriented and elegant. While planning the details for her wedding, Emily stumbled upon Etsy and it was love at first click! Many of her wedding details came from this online shopping site such as this garter. It’s by far the prettiest garter I have ever seen!

The flower girl is Emily and Mario’s daughter- aren’t they both so pretty?!

The bride and groom embraced a DIY Wedding attitude and handmade many projects for their day including a stunning escort card holder and the bride and groom signs for the sweetheart table. Here’s what Emily has to say about the card holder: I made the card box with the help of my mother and my sister. I searched and searched on-line for many months to plan every detail of our wedding. Upon my search, I came across a place card holder box that was very similar to the one we created. I made a trip to Home Depot to get the distressed wood and my mother created the box for me. I had been collecting various buttons and brooches over time to decorate the box with. The last touch- my sister handmade the flowers that adorn the box.

Emily decided on a white, blush and silver color scheme for her reception- we love it for it’s understated elegance

KG: What is your favorite memory from the day?

E/M: I think my favorite memory from the day was the ceremony. I was so nervous about the ceremony and walking down the aisle. I was unsure of all the emotions that I would have. After I walked down the aisle and stood by my soon-to-be husband, all of that anxiety went away. I knew it was right where I was supposed to be and it was something that I had looked forward to for such a long time.

KG: What was the smartest planning decision you made? What advice would you offer brides-to-be?

E/M: The smartest planning decision I made was to create the wedding of my dreams on a budget. I was the DIY bride! It was stressful and overwhelming, but fun… and it paid off in the end. I would not change a thing! The day itself was completely amazing and stress-free. I promised myself ahead of time that I would just go with the flow and enjoy the day. I was given advice from a recently married bride who had told me to designate someone to handle any issues that arise, and to take a moment and look around because the day flies by- enjoy every moment. That was the best advice that I received for our special day!

KG: Did you go on a Honeymoon?

E/M: For our honeymoon we wanted to go somewhere that we would not normally go- because we are the more touristy type people. We had decided that after all the wedding planning stress that we wanted to go somewhere to relax and just enjoy our time together. We decided that St. Lucia was the perfect place! I would not change our decision for any other place in the world. St. Lucia was beyond AMAZING!!! It is full of the nicest people in the world! Usually by the end of a trip we are ready to get home, but after a week we still were not ready to go!

When selecting the location we knew that we wanted an all-inclusive type place. We knew going all-inclusive would mean no surprises and no stress! It was beyond what we had expected. There were several Sandals Resorts in St. Lucia, but we selected Sandals La Toc because it was supposed to be more laid back than the other two. We dream about going back and are planning on a return visit for an anniversary in the future.

Congratulations Emily and Mario and thank you for sharing your day with us!

From our Pages: Catering for your Wedding
categories: fabulous reception sites

When planning your wedding, there are so many items to plan for- ceremony location, reception venue, photographer, invitations, entertainment, etc. and one item that can be a lot of fun and is a great opportunity to reflect your style as a couple is the food. You start by hiring a caterer (preferably someone who has a good reputation for their food and quality of service) then you get to brainstorm! You can choose food stations, vegetarian options, casual or traditional entrees- the options are endless.

Our recent issue includes a catering feature that’s noteworthy for it’s beautiful setting and mouthwatering delicacies. Look at how pretty these appetizers are:

The photo shoot was at Corona de Guevavi and I really love how photographer Amanda Rockafellow took the time to capture the surroundings as well as the food. When planning your wedding, you want to take into account the style of your venue and plan accordingly.

Explore the possibilities with your caterer- you can have unique tastes, beautiful presentations, creative entrees and so much more!

Many thanks to all who participated in the photo shoot:
