Everybody has a “DJ story”, right? My story is that at my good friend’s wedding in Texas, who is so uncomfortable with the limelight that she and her groom couldn’t even publicly thank their guests for coming to the wedding, the DJ came with all sorts of crazy (and unwelcome) accoutrements- spinning red lights, a shiny silver vest that nearly blinded us on the dance floor and the loudest microphone on the planet. Not kidding. And since my friend was so shy, of course she wasn’t going to say anything about it to him…so the night went on with mediocre music and over the top theatrics which was so not her style.
The point of my sad tale is that while not all DJ’s are like this (or while the aforementioned DJ’s style may be good for some, it’s not good for all), you do have to look out for some that might not be a good fit for you and perhaps among the most valuable word of mouth wedding vendor references you will get are those for your DJ.
Consider this your solid and reliable word of mouth reference for your wedding DJ: check out DJ Corbin Dooley.

He really seems to like his job, doesn’t he? You have probably heard of DJ Corbin Dooley since he’s well known in Tucson and dj’s for more than just weddings, but I wanted to help you get to know him a little better by asking him a few questions:
KG: What three songs would you choose for your own party ?
DJ Corbin Dooley: “Born Slippy” by Underworld, “Let’s Get Lost” by Chet Baker, and “Got To Get You Into My Life” by The Beatles.
KG: What is the #1 mistake couples make when choosing a wedding DJ ?
DJ Corbin Dooley: Not asking the right questions like these!
KG: What are some songs you would like to hear at a wedding?
DJ Corbin Dooley:
First Dance: “All Mine” by Portishead
Father/Daughter: “Teach Your Children” by Crosby, Stills Nash & Young
Mother/Son: “Save the Last Dance For Me” by Michael Buble
Dance music at the reception: “The Rockafeller Skank” by Fatboy Slim
KG: What is the biggest music blunder you have seen a DJ commit at a wedding ?
DJ Corbin Dooley: I couldn’t believe it, when I saw a wedding DJ, at a wedding I attended, attempt to pick up one of the bridesmaids. This resulted in the DJ playing a good portion of music aimed at the bridesmaid. When I started to hear a song by David Allan Coe, one of his more explicit ones, I began to get worried. Would he really play this out ? He did. Uhhh ohhh. Father of the Bride approached, and pulled the plug.
So there you have it! A wedding DJ who is more than a wedding DJ- Corbin is versatile, current and connected to the music world which adds up to a great time at your wedding. I’m sure he books up quickly…
Happy Planning from your Tucson Wedding Blog,
Kelly
